What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund helps maintain the day-to-day excellence of the university by making a difference in every aspect of life at Louisiana Tech. Contributions through the Annual Giving Program help narrow the gap between actual operating costs and the ability to respond effectively to new opportunities and challenges for the University.
What is the Goal of the Annual Fund?
The primary goal of Tech's Annual Giving Program is to encourage a pattern of consistent support from alumni, parents and friends of the University. Each request for support is designed to help donors support the area of their greatest interest.

Answers to Common Questions:
Why Give to the Annual Fund?
Gifts from alumni, parents and friends have a direct and immediate impact on the quality of a Tech education. As the quality and reputation of a Tech education increases, so does the value of a Tech degree. Gifts help the University and its programs thrive and allow Tech to react quickly to the needs of the students. Your annual support is critical to maintain the tradition of affordable excellence Louisiana Tech has provided through the years.
Your gift also reveals alumni satisfaction. One of the greatest challenges facing Tech is the participation of alumni giving back to the University. Alumni financial support is figured into national rankings of universities such as U.S News & World Report because it is viewed as a indicator of alumni satisfaction with their education. These rankings are important to the University because they create national visibility. Tech can actually track the quantity and quality of the admission applicants through national rankings. Why Give Early?
By making your gift early, you will:
- provide important "early" dollars for Tech's Annual Fund
- eliminate all other Annual Fund reminders until next fall
- Save Louisiana Tech Foundation the cost of phoning and mailing through the reminder of the academic year.

Does my gift really make a difference?
YES! Every gift --no matter what the size, makes a difference! The gifts from thousands of alumni and friends quickly add up.
The number of donors is also important. Alumni participation impacts corporate and foundation giving. When Tech approaches a company for financial support, one of the first things asked is how many alumni give? It's a fair question& if our alumni do not support us, why should they?
Your gifts, added to others, equals power for progress& for students and for the University. (return)
What are the different ways a gift can be made?
Cash: A cash gift is the most convenient form of giving. Cash gifts are fully deductible for federal income tax purposes, provided deductions are itemized. Please make checks payable to Louisiana Tech University Foundation.
Pledges: Pledges enable a donor to plan a personal giving program that is both convenient and tax-wise. A pledge may enable a donor to consider a more significant gift than would have been otherwise possible. Terms for payment on pledges are flexible and at the option of the donor.
Matching Gifts: Louisiana Tech University receives more than $191,469 annually in donor-initiated matching gifts from corporations and foundations. Employer matching gift programs can double or sometimes triple your contribution to the University. The Foundation encourages all donors to contact their employer\'s personnel or human resources department to determine matching gift policies.
Securities: Securities may be made as outright gifts or as a payment on a pledge. Stock certificates may be reassigned directly to the Louisiana Tech University Foundation or may be transferred through the donor\'s broker. The mean market value on the date of the transfer will determine the value of the gift for tax purposes. It is best to consult with a Development Officer before a transaction is made. For general questions on securities, contact our main office at 1-800-738-7950.
Gifts: In specific cases, it may be preferable from an estate, financial and tax planning perspective to consider long-term planned giving as the best way to make a gift. This can be accomplished through various gift instruments, such as charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities, charitable lead trusts and bequest. For more information on planned giving please contact gary@latechalumni.org at 1-800-738-7950.
Endowment: Endowed funds are essentially savings accounts from which only the annual earnings may be spent for the specific purpose. The principle of the gift is never spent. Donors may contribute to existing endowed funds for scholarships, professorships, or other purposes. Donors may create a new endowment with a gift of $10,000 or more and may name the fund.
Create opportunities, be a part of something great, but most of all make a difference and support Tech\'s Annual Fund today!
